Producing a number of House Music Records since the mid 1990’s, this Deep Woods first full length Album entitled “Certain Dark Things”. Two years in the making, the album flows so the listener can follow the journey that Deep Woods begins in the liner notes with “Taking a path through the forest of memories, a detour presented itself.” Over an hour of music later one can begin to see images as the tracks conjure up a landscape with various characters both good and evil that complete the direction that Deep Woods has laid out for us to follow into and out of the Deep Dark Woods.

Certain Dark Things

A collection of sounds from Deep Woods
Taking a path through the forest of memories, a detour presented itself. Finding myself inside a twisted bramble of thoughts that seemed to reach out and ensnare my every effort to escape, I forged ahead down this dark path, unsure of where it would lead. I visited the deep woods, knowing full well the consequences of my journey there. In the dark memories tricked me as the ghosts of my past seemed to haunt my every move, fleetingly appearing behind trees to prevent my escape and keep me trapped within. Sometimes it almost seemed as if time had stopped, blocking my path with dense underbrush from the forest floor with no means to break free. Spiraling down into a deeper darker blackness I was unaware of the woodland creatures that had gathered, as if I summoned them. With no direction to turn, I followed the woodland creatures down a hidden path towards the light, leading me away from certain dark things that I faced below.  Emerging from the deep woods into a golden meadow, the creatures helped me reach the place I needed to escape the darkness. Reflecting as I lay on the soft grass, starring up at the clouds overhead, I realized my journey had only started.

“Producing music in Brooklyn and NYC allows such a rich contrast within an urban setting that one can’t help but be inspired by the surrounding landscape and the situations one encounters daily.” Deep Woods is quick to point out being a native New Yorker.
